I started this blog because I enjoy writing. Over time, it has become a release for me. I write what I want to write about, some days it’s fitness related, some days it’s personal life updates, some days it’s about Teaching and Education, and some days I post the randomness of a Would You Rather Survey. With that being said, I can honestly say as I continue to grow one of the added benefits is that I get to read all of the feedback from all of you. You are one amazing bunch of people out there, and I want to thank you for that. Since April I have had multiple readers leave me with what I call little comments of happiness… also known as “blog award nominations”. Every time I get one I am reminded how much you all rock.
With that being said, I didn’t want to overwhelm you with 500 facts about me… even though I’m sure you’d LOVE to read every one of them so INSTEAD I chose a few of questions from the three most recent awards and have answered them below. ENJOY
Sarah nominated me for the Sunshine Award.
1. What was/is your favorite subject in school and why?
My favorite subject changed all of the time, depending on the grade level I was in. All the way until Sophomore year in high school I LOVED Math… then I went into Geometry, had a teacher tell me I was awful at Math and I was turned off. I hated ALL prerequisite classes in college but really loved Educational Psychology and Development related classes.
4. What toppings do you put on your ice cream/froyo?
Strawberries, Cookie Dough Chunks, a few mini reese cups, a little heath, and a whole lot of awesome.
6. Describe your perfect day.
Sunny, mid to high 70′s, low humidity… perfect running weather. I’d start out with a long run (15 or so miles), eat an omelet, spend a few hours by the pool, go on a bike ride around the area, eat my lunch at a park in picnic form, go on a hike with Ben, go out for dinner and froyo, come home by 8ish and be IN bed by 9.
7. What’s your favorite thing about blogging (I love hearing this question!)?
It has gotten me in the habit of writing more regularly and through that I was able to “meet” some amazing individuals along the way.
Paige nominated me for the Liebster Award.
1. If you could live anywhere other than where you are right now, where would you live?
Ben and I have a few locations that we agree on and then there are some places that I would go that he may not be QUITE so keen on. The places we’ve said we’d both try are: Asheville North Carolina, Costa Rica, and Greenville, Charleston, or Hilton Head South Carolina. The places I’d consider: Colorado, Austin Texas, Southern California, anywhere in Europe.
4. What is your favorite recipe that you have posted on your blog? If you don’t post many recipes, what is your favorite post that you have written?
I do cook, I promise… but I am AWFUL at following recipes so I rarely if ever post them myself. I probably have more guest posts on recipes than posts I’ve actually written with them. Oops! So let’s go to the second question… my favorite post? Not All Runners Live In A Size Zero Frame and the reason being is because that ONE post taught me a lot of lessons. My intentions were pure as I wrote that post but it quickly became one of my fastest spreading posts being shared and read…. and also the fastest post to be referenced and/or debated against. It taught me that even if I am being genuine in my posts there are individuals out there who will disagree, dislike what I have to say, or see things from a different perspective. It also taught me that THAT is okay. I respect everyone’s opinion, even if they are different from my own. As a blogger I am publicly sharing my thoughts and ideas so I am ASKING others to provide me with their insight. If I didn’t want it I would privatize my blog.
5. What is your favorite vacation spot?
Hands down, the North Carolina mountains. It’s my happy place.
8. What made you want to start a blog?
In January of 2013 I was reading a Running magazine that highlighted various running blogs from 2012… I looked some up and said “HEY, I can do that!”…. and I did.
10. What is your favorite book? (Or magazine, or blog to read, if you don’t read many books)
My favorite AUTHOR is Jodi Picoult. Thought provoking, engaging, and presents real life difficult topics in a unique light. My favorite books are: My Sister’s Keeper, Mind Gym, The Help, Wonder (<–young adult book), books by Laurie Halse Anderson, I could keep going.
Heather also nominated me for the Sunshine Award
1. What is your favorite thing about running?
Running never takes more than it gives back.
5. What do you LOVE about your body? (Only sunny answers!)
My legs are muscular powerhouses. BAM!
6. Tell me your favorite season and give two reasons why it is your favorite season.
When I lived in Wisconsin it was ALWAYS Summer because well, summer is the only good season in the Midwest (in my opinion). Now that I live in the South FALL is where it’s at. Reasons? Best running weather ever, beautiful scenery, hoodies, pumpkin picking, apple cider, Thanksgiving, football, wait you said two… sorry, I’m not typically a rule follower.
